Whereas, settler colonialism is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as "a type of colonialism in which the indigenous peoples of a colonized region are displaced by settlers who permanently form a society there," and
Whereas, the Kingdom of Talossa is on land itself and is an enclave of the United States, a country fitting this definition, and
Whereas, the Kingdom in the diversity of its citizen's global reach has connections with many countries meeting this description (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa as examples), and
Whereas, land acknowledgments have grown in use as a tool to start conversations around historical witnessing and reconciliation in settler colonialist countries.
Therefore, be it enacted, that the following customized version of the land acknowledgment created by the Electa Quinney Institute of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is added to El Lexhatx Section F as a new subsection:
42. LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT. The Kingdom of Talossa acknowledges it is located on traditional Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk and Menominee homeland along the southwest shores of Michigami, North America's largest system of freshwater lakes, where the Milwaukee, Menominee and Kinnickinnic rivers meet and the people of Wisconsin's sovereign Anishinaabe, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Oneida and Mohican nations remain present.
