Past Clark Page
Hi, just noticed this in the recent changes.
I've been working on these:
Eðo_Grischun (talk) 10:24, 10 July 2012 (CDT)
- I had no idea someone else was working on the same thing otherwise I would have asked you how I could help before I started doing my own thing. :) Anyways, what I am trying to compile here is more of a template for other Clarks, and perhaps all of them (the final results anyway) could be displayed on one page. I thought that displaying each Clark separate would take a lot of time and a lot of links. I love the 43rd Cosa page you currently have--that was one of the things I was going to work on next, and yours looks fantastic! :D As for the November 2011 Clark page you have, the votes are great (I was going to make a separate, linked page for all past votes, and you could click on "RC" and see the Roll Call entry in the Cosa or Senate for that particular act.) and everything else is as well. I would love to help you out on this project, but I first would like your input on compiling everything in one page rather than six pages for each Cosa. Dient (talk) 10:38, 10 July 2012 (CDT)
- Likewise, I would have spoke with you about this if I had known someone else was working on the same thing. We're here now :). I can see what your aiming for with the one page, I like the expand/collapse function your working on. I was making multiple pages only because I could not think of a neat way to put so much information on one page. I'm not sure what you mean by the roll call. I guess it depends on how people would usually browse such info. For example, you seem to be hinting towards looking at bill names and then checking how someone voted on one bill, is that right? I don't usually browse like that, I prefer seeing the entire clark table at a glance, but only because I've got used to that system that the SOS uses. Eðo_Grischun (talk) 10:48, 10 July 2012 (CDT)
- Hmm...I see your point about the Roll Call votes. That was just an idea I had, but it would probably take much longer to make a separate vote table for each bill. I do like your format for the vote table. We could export your table from the November 2011 Clark page into the Past Clarks page (and make it collapsible as well haha). Should the format of the results (i.e. S:r Canun's "final results" declaration) be changed or do you think it is fine where it is at? If we can work together on this, and get a template hashed out for the whole thing, then we could export the template to an actual page, split up, and get to work on bringing in the tons of Clark information. (You take # - #, and I'll take # - #.) Finally, we have to make yet another page, collapsible and link-able, for all the bills that were not passed into law, and link those up with all the Clarks. What do you think? Dient (talk) 10:57, 10 July 2012 (CDT)
- Sounds ideal. I was wondering if putting the table in a collapse was possible, if it is, then that would be great. Yeah, one page with collapse, sub collapse sections. So a section for Clarks of 43rd, collapsing into susections for the voting tables and also the final results. that way one can quickly use the contents box to find the appropriate cosa number, then clark number, then expand out the voting table or the final certified results. Think I repeated myself there lol. Also agree, we need to have links to pages of laws that were voted on but failed the houses. the current digest of laws is good, but ive always been annoyed that the unpassed bills have always been missing. we probably need a section for such pages, seperate, but linking into these clark lists somehow. It's always good to go back to these bills to assess why they did not pass so that a legislator can take a second bash at improving such ideas for future clarks. regarding time to build and link tables.. I have found that all the time is spent on the first table. each table or page thereafter is quick quick to copy paste and edit. so where are we? first thing, get my table built into some kind of template and build it into your collapse and expand system?Eðo_Grischun (talk) 11:10, 10 July 2012 (CDT)
- YES THAT LOOKS GREAT! What do you think about (if possible) making those into sub,sub sections? So once you click, clark 1, you have collapsed sections for 'final results' and 'votes'? Just for neatness of navigation. Eðo_Grischun (talk) 11:20, 10 July 2012 (CDT)

Just got back on man--I think so! :) Final Results, Votes, and perhaps another one for just bills that were passed (instead of sorting through all of the final results). I tried making just the table collapsible, but for some reason, it starts as expanded instead of collapsed. I can however make subsections collapsible! :D If you are still on, which it has been a little while--that's my fault--I'd love some quick input, and then I'll export the entire Clark viewing system into a template, and we can begin importing the data! I'm giving you admin, since you're working with templates and whatsits. ParserFunctions is already installed; let me know if you need any other sysadmin functionality.--AD (talk) 19:25, 8 July 2012 (CDT)
Oh, once request: since you say you're very good at wikistuff, and I am only a novice, would you mind troubleshooting my conversion template at Template:Lb? As the talk page shows, some things convert correctly and some do not. Can't figure out why.--AD (talk) 19:27, 8 July 2012 (CDT)
Let me know when you're ready for another challenge.--AD (talk) 02:56, 10 July 2012 (CDT)
I'e sent you a chat on your past Clarks page.Eðo_Grischun (talk) 10:30, 10 July 2012 (CDT)
- and replied :)
Hi. sent you a message on the cosa pages, but doing it here so you get the popup. Im not sure about putting the clark results on the cosa pages. they are two different things. bear in mind that the word clark has two differing meanings, one is the legislative session and one is the legislative journal. the thing your adding into the cosa pages is the journal and probably should have its own place. its mixing up senate votes into a place they dont belong. The Cosa pages are a subset of ziu and clark pages should be a subset of chancery.. should try and get it into clark somehow instead. We can link from the cosa pages to the clark pages with a "see also" section.Eðo_Grischun (talk) 14:55, 11 July 2012 (CDT)
- Haha I'm an idiot xD I completely forgot that the Clark comprises both the Cosa and the Senats. I mean, I knew it did obviously, but I got the Cosa confused with the full Ziu. I'm editing as we speak. Dient (talk) 14:57, 11 July 2012 (CDT)
- lol, cool. I love the way the collapse section is working out. It's the right idea just the wrong place. I'm going to keep working on general elections and cosa pages till I get them as far back as we have data for. Give me a shout if you need any help filling all those voting tables out. Eðo_Grischun (talk) 15:02, 11 July 2012 (CDT)
- I'm not sure if we should put all the past clarks on the Clark page. It seems like the Clark page should be more of a definition of what a Clark is, with a link to a page of past results. As for linking the Cosas with their respective Clarks via a "see also" type thing, I can hash out a quick template if we need to. Finally, yes I would LOVE some help with the vote tables haha :) I spent half the day trying to figure out why they wouldn't work in the template, and now that I've figured it out, I'm tired of messing with them right now. (The problem was the "|" character won't work inside the template I made, so whenever you need to put a "|" in your table, you have to instead put in {{!}}) Let me know what you think about making a page just for the "Past Clarks" as well. Dient (talk) 15:06, 11 July 2012 (CDT)
- yes another page would be fine, in fact, ideal. I was just saying clark as an example rather than cosa. we can work out link and nav between all once everything is in the right places. I was having the exact same problem earlier! I could not get the table to work proper and was scratching my head. I did find a workaround by using a plain html table but it quickly got messy. im glad you found a better way. for now, do you fancy using some kind of place holder wherever you want me to add the tables to? Eðo_Grischun (talk) 15:31, 11 July 2012 (CDT)
- A nice place holder for the tables would be perfect :D And if you haven't already (I haven't checked any logs) I could go ahead and make a page for Past Clarks. Should the name of the page be Past Clarks or Past Clark Results? Dient (talk) 15:53, 11 July 2012 (CDT)
- no, not created that yet. I did do one for November 2011 Clark which I will get deleted once it's on your fancy thang. hm, not sure on name. Might as well go with past clark results? Eðo_Grischun (talk) 16:00, 11 July 2012 (CDT)

Started the Past Clark Results page, added the First and Second Clark for the 43rd Cosa. (Vote tables just in the first one, obviously.) There is not a subsection in my template for Failed Bills; should I create one? (The only way to see failed bills now is by looking at the Final Results.) The Chancery template needs to be added to the page. Also, if you wanted to add all of the templates I created for this project: Template:CPASSED, Template:CFAILED, Template:DOL, and Template:ClarkNav to the Chancery Template Category page, that would be good. (I didn't want to try--I'm not all that great with tables.) It looks as though you could go ahead and delete the November Clark page, but I would save the layout (export it to like User:Eovartgrischun/N2011C) just in case we need to look back on anything for any reason. Finally, did you get admin status? I told Hool to bump you up. Dient (talk) 16:24, 11 July 2012 (CDT)
