The Government of Talossa is formed after each general election, at intervals of eight months or less. After the election, the political party or coalition of parties holding a majority of seats in the newly elected Cosa organizes a new government administration, recommending to the King a particular person for the office of Seneschal, or Prime Minister. The Seneschal appoints a cabinet of ministers to enact various functions specified in the Organic Law and in statutes (most particularly The Cabinet Refinishing Act). Typically, new Seneschals have left some of the offices vacant, or permitted the incumbents to retain their positions.

Current Cabinet

The Second Schivâ Cabinet was inaugurated on December 16th 2019/XL and was largely a continuation of the previous one.

Prime Minister Miestrâ Schivâ had been serving as Prime Minister since February 23rd, after the resignation of the previous Seneschal Ian Plätschisch and the subsequent electoral victory of the Free Democrats in the April 2019 General Election. The Free Democrats went on to win a slightly reduced plurality in the December 2019 General Election, and decided to seek a coalition with AMP and the Peculiar Nationalist Party.

The government is composed of six individuals holding nine positions - two Free Democrats, two from AMP and two from PNP. The position of Defence Minister has been brought back to Cabinet level for the first time since 2014. The only difference in personnel is the replacement of Distain and Finance Minister Munditenens Tresplet, replaced by Minister of STUFF Plätschisch in the former role and by PNP's Litz Cjantscheir in the latter. At the beginning of the term, five of the members sat in the Cosa and just one in the Senate, but this evened out during the term, as Interior Minister Grischun was appointed to the Senate seat for Vuode, and the Senator for Florencia Açafat del Val debuted in Cabinet as A-G from late April, replacing Cresti Nouavastra.
