The Independent Party was founded by Dame Litz Cjantscheir prior to the 45th Cosa General Election. During its short lived existence, the party held 13 seats in the Cosa.
The party was comprised of mostly former RUMP members and cabinet ministers such as Cjantscheir herself, Istefan Perþonest and Béneditsch Ardpresteir; it entered into coalition with the RUMP, forming the Dal Nordselva Cabinet. It was represented in the Ziu and the provincial assemblies of Benito and Cézembre.
The party folded with the dissolution of the 45th Cosa, with its members either rejoining the RUMP or remaining unaffiliated.
