The Independent Party was founded by Dame Litz Cjantscheir prior to the 45th Cosa General Election. The party served solely as a way to allow its members to hold seats in the Cosa, with each of the MZs free to vote in any way they wished.
During its short lived existence, the party held 13 seats in the Cosa. The party was comprised of mostly former RUMP members and cabinet ministers such as Cjantscheir herself, Istefan Perþonest and Béneditsch Ardpresteir; it entered into coalition with the RUMP, forming the Dal Nordselva Cabinet.
