The Civil Service was an office that appointed and dismiss Permanent Secretaries within the cabinet ministries, as well as other non-political appointees. It was headed by a Commissioner of the Civil Service, nominated by a Commission, approved by 2/3rds of the Cosa and appointed by the King.
The Civil Service was merged with the Royal Household in 2018, to form the new Royal Civil Service. Its functions were given to a new Royal Civil Service Commission, headed by a Commissioner with the same role as the old position.
