Matthias Muth was a citizen of the Kingdom of Talossa and of Benito province (then known as Mussolini).
He declared himself absolute dictator of his province, with a 99-year term of office, which led to fellow-citizen Art Verbotten declaring the canton in which he lived, Florencia, to have seceded from the province. After a brief struggle, Muth consented to the secession, and Florencia became an independent province.
Muth held the office of Senator for his province for ten of the first eleven Cosas of that seat's existence. As sitting Senator, he renounced his citizenship to found the Talossan Republic at the conclusion of the 32nd Cosa.
