Azul and welcome to TalossaWiki, AD! If you're a Talossan citizen, please be sure to register yourself so you can make edits here, then go check out the Citizens Portal, where you can see opportunities to contribute and improve the wiki, as well as helpful hints. If you're already approved for editing and ready to begin, then take a moment to read our Book.png Manual of Style.

Well of course they are avaible to everyone :-) I already made MMAss.png Assembly, buy I'll certainly do the other templates needed, I only have to change the name of the subcategory... Üc R. Tärfâ (talk) 01:29, 6 July 2012 (CDT)

What is the conversion rate for Template:Lb? (Or between USD and Bent and Louis) Dient (talk) 19:37, 8 July 2012 (CDT)

$1.50 is one louis, or 60 bence.--AD (talk) 19:40, 8 July 2012 (CDT)
I figured out the problem! It is hard to discuss here; do you have GoogleTalk or anything? (message me back on my talk page) Dient (talk) 13:57, 9 July 2012 (CDT)
Just figured out the solution as well! :D I'll be updating the Template:Lb shortly.Dient (talk) 14:15, 9 July 2012 (CDT)
:)--AD (talk) 15:32, 9 July 2012 (CDT)

Updated Template:Lb! :D Use it as {{Lb|AmountinUSDHere}}--$20 = 13¤20. Dient (talk) 21:11, 9 July 2012 (CDT)

Great! Thanks! That makes sense - I was making it needlessly complicated by having it be two variables.--AD (talk) 21:13, 9 July 2012 (CDT)

Check Cosa - I've dummy ran that navbar and made it linkable to the pages we have up so far. edit- keep forgetting the 4 squiggles Eðo_Grischun (talk) 07:32, 11 July 2012 (CDT)

Updated your template. It was a good idea, it just would have been squashed on the side, is all.--AD (talk) 07:33, 11 July 2012 (CDT)

Go ahead and lay it on me! (The other challenge I mean.) Dient (talk) 08:45, 10 July 2012 (CDT)

There's probably some easy solution I never knew, but I would like if the name templates auto-substed in, i.e. if using Fiovă actually replaced the template with the word, but without people having to learn and use subst with it.--AD (talk) 16:01, 10 July 2012 (CDT)
This looks somewhat promising. I'll continue to dig around, but it seems as though you could create a string function that replaces Fiova with Fiovă (and all the other Talossan names with diacritics) automatically whenever the edit is saved. It may have to be exported to each page, however. Dient (talk) 13:38, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
Hm, which of these functions did you want to use? #replace would run into the same order of operations problem I already encountered - if you try to define {{fio}} as {{subst:fio2}}, where {{fio2}}'s contents are Fiovă, then the wiki refuses to begin what could be an endless series of hops, and will only render {{subst:fio}} on the page.--AD (talk) 18:05, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
This is what I was thinking of: {{#replace:Fiova|o|ô|a|â}} Dient (talk) 18:54, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
I see what you're doing, but we'd have to call that function and all other name functions on every page, wouldn't we?
I think it's wiser for me to do what I'd been avoiding: build a Namebot to automatically go through and make the substitutions.--AD (talk) 19:27, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
Well if you need any help creating the Namebot, I'd be glad to offer my services. :) Dient (talk) 19:37, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
I may end up taking you up on that - I've never run a bot before!
If you're looking for a new complicated challenge, you can tackle citizenspace and figure out a main portal design for ArTal.--AD (talk) 19:53, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
I'll see what I can do! (As for the bot, I haven't ever run one either, but it seems like an interesting challenge) Dient (talk) 12:28, 13 July 2012 (CDT)
And on a completely unrelated note, can you install this extension? Dient (talk) 15:40, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
Yes, I will arrange it.--AD (talk) 18:05, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
Thank you! :D And if you get a chance, check out my half-serious, half-facetious Royal Governor's Office page. I think you may enjoy it. Dient (talk) 18:54, 12 July 2012 (CDT)

I added a cool little "Citizen of the Week" section to ArTal yesterday; once the inputbox extension is installed, a search feature could be added just for citizens. I also foresee some kind of community calendar or something. As for the bot, it looks pretty simple to set up; I can write up the Python script for it and everything. Unfortunately, I probably couldn't run it on this computer--it is too slow, and my regular computer is broken at the moment. If you wanted me to, however, I could prepare the script and you could run it from your computer. Dient (talk) 16:21, 15 July 2012 (CDT)

I'd have to run it from a university computer, I think - I just have a little netbook. If you get it done before me, just send it to me :) --AD (talk) 16:51, 15 July 2012 (CDT)
Sorry to barge in on this conersation... "community calandar"... this could be pretty handy and cool. It could flash up birthdays, etc. Eðo_Grischun (talk) 18:04, 15 July 2012 (CDT)
I think so too. There are a few pretty cool calendar extensions for MediaWikis; I'm not exactly sure which one would be the best for this purpose. The calendar could also be used for like Talossan meetups, or perhaps an online chess tournament--the possibilities are endless, and the calendar needs to be available for anyone to add to it. Dient (talk) 18:12, 15 July 2012 (CDT)
The MinStuff usually adds extensions, since he has direct server access and I'm only thunking in over shitty ftp sites. Tell me which one you think would be best and I'll arrange it.--AD (talk) 18:37, 15 July 2012 (CDT)
This one would probably work the best for the current "ArTal" purpose. Dient (talk) 18:50, 15 July 2012 (CDT)

Thank You! :D

You're the best! :D (If you want to check out the extensions while I'm working on them, navigate to my sandbox.) Dient (talk) 19:30, 27 July 2012 (CDT)

Created a calendar page, and added a "Viewbox" to the ArTal page. Need your help on inputing the CSS style on the Viewbox. See here for how to add the parameter. Also added a search citizens infobox. Dient (talk) 20:57, 27 July 2012 (CDT)

Bot

Now that I've spent an extended time away from the Wiki, I'm ready to get to work on the bot. In what seems a futile effort to prevent procrastination, I'm giving myself a week to get the script done and working. Dient (talk) 16:38, 9 October 2012 (MDT)

I've been away for quite awhile haha. Obviously the bot has been built and works, you know this already, but how often should it be ran? Dient (talk) 22:35, 14 November 2012 (CST)
Very seldom, I think - once every three or four months, maybe.--AD (talk) 06:00, 15 November 2012 (CST)
Will do. On another note, can you check out Citizen:Dien Tresplet? There is a problem with Template:Cit, and its most obvious on my citizen page. (I tried fixing it and failed.) Dient (talk) 01:49, 28 November 2012 (MSK)
What is the problem? Looking there, I don't see anything immediately apparent.--AD (talk) 04:23, 9 December 2012 (MSK)

help

I've exhausted all of my avenues trying to get this Template:BaseballStandings to work. I'm trying to make Teams 5-16 hidden unless needed; it sort of works (see Talossan Baseball League). The value "BL" bolds a particular team name; it is bolding team 5 as seen here. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated! :) Dient (talk) 23:54, 8 May 2013 (MSK)

I'll take a look!--AD (talk) 01:56, 9 May 2013 (MSK)
Awesome! Thanks :) Dient (talk) 02:53, 9 May 2013 (MSK)
Before I get in too deep, do any of the templates found here work for you, maybe?--AD (talk) 06:23, 9 May 2013 (MSK)
I'm actually basing it off the template MLBStandings, and in particular, this revision. If I could get one of these "standings" things done, I'd just do a quick copy paste and tweak for the other Fantasy Leagues. Dient (talk) 06:27, 9 May 2013 (MSK)

Bot

Just a heads up, I'm getting ready to run a bot that adds the ScribeAuth template to the rest of the uncategorized pages (which are all laws--I've categorized every other page). The bot's name is ScribeBot. Dient (talk) 07:18, 9 May 2013 (MSK)

I'm back. I've got a few bots scheduled to run at midnight and after midnight--just thought I should let you know. You can check my user page for more details. Dient (talk) 14:48, 18 July 2013 (EDT)
Much appreciated.--AD (talk) 23:09, 18 July 2013 (EDT)

Class Assignment

I think my new page is starting to look sharp! cybercit Drnorwood (talk) 23:17, 13 May 2013 (MSK)

It sure is! You're doing a great job!--AD (talk) 02:33, 14 May 2013 (MSK)

LawZiuStatus

I've updated this template to link to the appropriate Clark page in the Legacy Database. For example, the value for "Ziu" should read 44 or 44th, and the value for "Clark" should read 1 or 1st. See the usage for any more questions; I've already updated all the pages the template transcludes in to the appropriate values (changing First to 1st). Dient (talk) 15:59, 19 July 2013 (EDT)

Great work! I really need more prizes to give out if you're going to keep this up!--AD (talk) 21:49, 19 July 2013 (EDT)
Woohoo! Prizes! :D Hahaha. Can I get your input on Template:CitData? (See it in use here.) I keep feeling like it needs something else, but it may be fine, I dunno. I basically just copied your Monarch template, and added a couple of things. xD When this is done I'm going to set it up on each one of the citizen pages with the use of a bot. I'm still working on the automatic "citizen number" adder, but until I finish that way-too-complicated feature, the individual's database can be added by manually entering it. (I think I'll set the default to the full list of database entries, in case they don't feel like manually adding their number.) Dien (talk) 13:39, 20 July 2013 (EDT)
I will take a gander.--AD (talk) 18:25, 20 July 2013 (EDT)
Took your advice; moved it to Template:Citizen for now. Dien (talk) 19:01, 20 July 2013 (EDT)
I added documentation to it. You might want to consider combining some of the variables from Template:Profile with your new templates, too.--AD (talk) 09:04, 22 July 2013 (EDT)
I didn't even realize there was a Template:Profile already--if I had, I would have just added the feature to it instead. xD I'll definitely combine the two when I get some time. Sorry about that. xD Dien (talk) 23:54, 22 July 2013 (EDT)
Alas, I never got around to using it, even on my own page! It's something to start remedying.--AD (talk) 12:00, 23 July 2013 (EDT)

Statutory Law Category

Hey AD, I'm going to transfer all the pages in the category Statutes to Statutory law--mostly by just changing it on the ScribeAuth template. I'm going to run ScribeBot sometime soon to put the Auth on the Auth-less pages, but I've changed computers recently so I've got to set everything up again. Just wanted to keep you informed! :) Dien (talk) 00:27, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Ok! Thanks! Great job with the bot, as usual!--AD (talk) 01:28, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
Another idea I've had for a while was to create redirects for like 14RC10 to The Anti-Welfare (Substitute Bill) Act--typing the bill number in right now does bring up the bill, but only as result 2. It'd be a big task, but I think I have an idea on how to automate it--wanted to float the idea by you first before I did. Also changed around the ScribeAuth template some; it auto recognizes "PD" and (soon) will auto recognize "Prime Dictate" at the end of page names to automatically sort them to the Prime dictates category I set up. Dien (talk) 21:11, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
That would be a VERY big task - but very impressive if you can do it. I'll be really interested to see your solution!
Great work on the PD thing, too. You remind me we need an actual article on prime dictates!--AD (talk) 21:16, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Figured something out--I'm gonna run it as a test for a couple pages before I go all out. There is a slim chance of a bug possibility if there are any typos on the Digest of Law page, but I plan on running a separate script immediately afterwards to fix the bugs. Dien (talk) 23:16, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Finished! To an extent anyways. As long as the number on the Digest page matches to the law, the redirect works (with the exception of 6RC1-4 for some reason). Some pages, though, aren't matched up due to a numbering typo in the Digest page, so those redirects will have to be manually fixed. (I'll start on that.) Then we have the evident problems like 45PD1 and 45PD2 throughout all the laws which need to be fixed as well. Other than that, finished!
And we do need an article for Prime Dictates, don't we? xD Dien (talk) 00:35, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Wow, great job!--AD (talk) 02:04, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Recording of Acts

RE: An Act to Abolish the Vindictive Ben Oversight Committee (and other specimens)

Hi Alexandreu,

Are the multiple errors in the text of this Act—un-closed quotations, spelling errors/typos (e.g. 'worrie4d'), grammar—problems in the original source or as a result of transcription?

While the Act above is ephemeral, I'm curious about the policy for handling official text where errors exist. In transcribing for the official record, do we acknowledge the errorss [sic] or publish them verbatim and pretend we don't notice? Or, do we actually not notice, then later pretend we didn't notice and hope that no-one else notices either? (Because really, who reads Acts from 26 years ago?) :)

Anyway, it appears that a bit of fiddling is permitted, when the intent of the writer is clear.

This is more curiosity than anything. I don't intend to edit records that only the Scribery should touch, but I'll probably poke the Deputies when I find stuff like this. ~ Sevastáin Pinátsch TinyQuill.gif 12:33, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

There are some transcription errors, which should be fixed, but also some errors in the original drafting. The latter used to be the Scribery's job to also fix, but that was changed last Cosa - now changes are not permitted. Technically speaking, then, only the transcription errors should ever be fixed, but it's kind of moot with the repeal of everything, so I doubt anyone's going to go back and check to make sure that all the proper typos are in their places.--AD (talk) 15:37, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Deletion requests

I created a couple of things which need to be deleted. To make identifying these and my future errant creations simple, deletion requests are categorized underneath a general maintenance category. Thanks / sorry / thanks. ~ Sevastáin Pinátsch TinyQuill.gif 19:10, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

You can get those rights as soon as you become a citizen, I think.--AD (talk) 23:59, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks.I think I'm eligible as of tomorrow. Dien got my requests this time. ~ Sevastáin Pinátsch TinyQuill.gif 22:22, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Cheers!

Thanks for the Mick, and the keys. I promise to drive responsibly. ~ Sevastáin Pinátsch TinyQuill.gif 00:57, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
