The Plätschisch Cabinet took office between July 29 and July 30 2018/XXXIX. It is the first cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Ian Plätschisch, a former Distain and Interior Minister. Marking the first time since 2013 that a party is able to lead more than two governments in a row, the Plätschisch Cabinet took over from the Third Da Schir Cabinet, whose leader Lüc da Schir announced he would not accept any post and enter a semi-retirement from national politics.
Unlike its predecessor, this Cabinet is a more marked departure from its previous iteration: for instance, the STUFF post, traditionally held by Moderate Radical ministers ever since the Da Dhi Cabinet, went to former Secretary of State Martì-Paìr Furxhéir, who last held the post fourteen years ago. Two other new Ministers will join Cabinet: Iac Marscheir, who briefly served as Finance Minister in the Second Da Schir Cabinet before pulling out for personal reasons, and Cresti Nouacastra-Läxhirescu, who debuts as Justice Minister. He will replace Viteu Marcianüs, who will abandon the post to serve solely as Distain, in a return to a more traditional arrangement where the Deputy Prime Minister does not manage another concurrent portfolio and focuses on legislative projects.
The government is projected to have a comfortable nominal Cosa majority of 64 (132-68). This is the highest in governments formed after Reunision.
