Éovart (Eðo) Grischun

Éovart (Eðo) Davíu Grischun (Edward "Eddie" David Grice, b. 27 October 1984), is a citizen of Talossa and of the province of Vuode. He became Talossan on 20 February 2009 and has been a highly active citizen since. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister's Patriotic Award, responsible for the Talossanity of Perla del Abaþ.

Grischun has been involved in many aspects of Talossan life including party politics, provincial politics, government and culture. He is a former leader of the Progressive Party (as PPT, CSP and CSPP), five time Member of the Cosa and two time Minister of Culture. In provincial politics he has served as Vuode's Premier multiple times. He has also served as Deputy Secretary of State and was also the editor of the now-defunct Stil da Vida magazine.

It was reported by the Talossan Observer on 30 April 2014/XXXV that Grischun had opened a bid to contest the Vuodean Senate Seat which will be contested in the September/October 2014 election cycle.

Political Career

Entry to politics: RUMP and TLC

Grischun began carving a political career for himself within days of becoming a Talossan citizen. Initially, he joined the RUMP party during the 39th Cosa and was appointed to serve as Minister of Culture by Seneschal Ieremiac'h Ventrutx. He resigned his cabinet post and from the RUMP after only two months citing concerns over the internal operations of the party as his motivation for leaving. He went on to form The Talossan League of Centrists (TLC), which was a short lived party that existed for the remainder of the 39th Cosa. Grischun then joined Flip Molinar and the FGP for the electoral campaign to the 40th Cosa.

Fair Governance Party and V-Gate

Grischun joined The Fair Governance Party (FGP) during the general election to the 40th Cosa and was elected to serve as the vice-chairman of the party. During the campaign, another FGP member, Viteu Marcianüs, got involved in a fierce argument with the leader of the Progressive Party, Owen Edwards. This event led to Flip Molinar and Grischun making the poor decision to expell Marcianüs from the party. These events (which were later dubbed V-Gate) led to weeks of hostility and anger from all sides. The 40th Cosa election has since been remembered as one of Talossa's nastiest fought campaigns. Eventually, the FGP collapsed with all members going their separate ways. Grischun joined the Progressive Party and has been involved in Progressive politics ever since.

Progressive Politics and Serving in the Cosa

Grischun joined the Progressive Party for the 40th Cosa in August 2009 and was seated in the Cosa for the first time with two seats. He was elected party leader for the 41st Cosa in October 2010, but the party soon fragmented due to internal differences between members. The core membership had changed from it's original line up and Grischun struggled to maintain a balance of ideals that appealed to the widening gap in party membership. In the January 2011 election the Progressives suffered losses with seat numbers going down to 57 from 89. Grischun resigned from the party and did not serve as an MC during the 42nd Cosa.

He returned to the Cosa chamber for the 43rd Cosa in November 2011, now leading the Common Sense Party (CSP). By mid-Cosa (March 2012) the Progressive Party was about to fold having lost most of it's members. Grischun successfully negotiated a merger between the CSP and the PP to form the Common Sense Progressive Party (CSPP), essentially saving progressive politics from disappearing from Talossa permanently. He then wrote to his old friend, Owen Edwards, asking him to return to the Kingdom (Edward's had renounced his citizenship back in 2009) to help rebuild the Progressive movement. Grischun and Edwards managed to bring the Progressive Party back to health and successfully re-cemented the ideals of progressive politics.

Grischun took a step back from politics (and Talossa in general) during 2013 when events in his personal life demanded his complete attention. He returned to activity in 2014 and continues to be involved in Progressive politics.

2014 Senatorial Bid

It was reported by the Talossan Observer on 30 April 2014 that Grischun had opened a bid to contest the Vuodean Senate Seat which will be contested in the September/October 2014 election cycle. On 5 May 2014 it was announced that the Progressive Party had endorsed his senatorial candidacy.

Provincial Politics (Vuode)

O Class Premiership

Grischun served as the O-Class Premier of Vuode from January 2010 when the post was created until April 2012 when the post was abolished.

Constitutional Convention of 2012

In February 2012, Grischun made calls for Vuode to abandon the provincial constitution on the basis that it was failing the province. Along with fellow Vuodean citizens Sir Trotxâ Betiñéir and Viteu Marcianüs, he formed a Constitutional Convention and went on to spend the remainder of 2012 working on a new constitution which was adopted in April 2013. The current constitution of Vuode was primarily authored by Grischun and, as such, is sometimes referred to as 'The Grischun Constitution'.

Current Premiership

Grischun was elected to serve as Premier of Vuode in June 2013 and then again in February 2014. His current term is due to expire in September 2014.

Parish and Township naming project

Grischun is responsible for the naming of Vuode's Parishes and Townships. He spent many months researching the province's history before authoring a Byelaw, (The Parishes and Townships Decree), which named the Province's six Parishes and sixty-nine Townships.

Serving in the Chancery

Deputy Secretary of State

Grischun served as Deputy Secretary of State From April 2012 to December 2012 during the tenure of Secretary of State Iusti Canun. During this time he ran several Clark sessions on behalf of the Chancery as well as having responsibility over some immigration cases. He administered the first half of the July 2012 general election and also helped to certify the results at the conclusion of the election.

Extra-Talossan life

Éovart was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1984 and has resided there his entire life. He studied computing at college before becoming self employed in the automotive industry in 2003. He also studied and trained to become an electrician and opened a small electrical contracting company in 2008. He sold his business assets in 2011 to focus on issues in his personal life that demanded attention. In July 2014, he ventured back into self employment and works as an electrician in his owner-operated business.

Grischun has one Dandelion, Avvi Grischun-Camerá and a rescued border collie named Lucy.

Grischun has a wide range of interests and pastimes. He is an avid cyclist and runner and is an outdoors enthusiast with hobbies such as hill walking, hiking, mountaineering and camping. He enjoys reading, watching documentaries and getting creative by drawing, painting or making music.
