The Senate for the 44th Cosa consists of eight members. The Senate was expanded with the creation of the province of Fiova.

Elections

With the creation of Fiova, the schedule for election of Senators was modified so that the terms of three of the eight (rather than two of the seven) Senators expire with each Cosa. That is, before the Organic amendment making this change Senatorial terms alternated between three and four Cosas in length, and after the amendment, terms of the Senators are three, then three, then two Cosas in length. For this reason, two of the five Senators whose seats were not contested during the 44th Cosa saw their terms of incumbency shortened by a Cosa.

Benito

Iason Taiwos defeated Istefan Perþonest for the Benitian seat, succeeding Tímoþi Asmourescu, whose term was at an end and who had retired from the Senate after the conclusion of the 43rd Cosa to accept appointment to the Uppermost Court. This was the largest turnout for a post-Reunision Senatorial election ever, and the 14 votes for Taiwos are the most ever won in a contested Senatorial election by a single candidate.

Taiwos, a two-term RUMP MC, ended up attracting the votes of roughly all RUMP and CeR voters, while Perþonest, a former Secretary of State who had only recently returned to full citizenship, and a de facto moderate independent, received most of the opposition votes.

Iason Taiwos 14
Istefan Perþonest 9
RUMP hold

Fiovă

During the discussions leading to Reunision, representatives for the new province of Fiova requested that this province begin the cycle of elections with a two-Cosa term. The new province elected Ián Anglatzarâ as its first Senator in a very close three-way race in which Dieter Vercáriâ and Miestrâ Schivâ were tied with the eventual winner only days from the end of the election. Anglatzarâ's early abstention in the election may have cost him the seat, but, citing this very fact, Vercáriâ decided to vote for Anglatzarâ late in the election cycle, deciding the race.

Fiovă Senate Election
Ián Anglatzarâ 6
Dieter Vercáriâ 4
Miestrâ Schivâ 4
IND win

Maritiimi-Maxhestic

In Maritiimi-Maxhestic, Sir Mick Preston was re-elected, running unopposed to succeed himself (but seeing some write-in votes, including his own, for Danihel Laurieir).

Mick Preston 11
Danihel Laurieir 2

Florencia

Subsequent to the vote, the Senator for Florencia, Ieremiac'h Ventrutx, failed to vote in two Clarks and was struck out of that body. Governor Pôl d'Aurìbuérg appointed Audradâ d'Aurìbuérg for the interim, until the next election.

Membership

The members of the Senate for the 44th Cosa, listed in the order of the scheduled expiration of their terms, are:

Notes

1 Senator Ventrutx vacated his seat by failing to vote in the second and third Clarks, and Senator d'Aurìbuérg was appointed to the vacated seat by the Governor of Florencia. She serves as interim Senator pending a by-election at the conclusion of the 44th Cosa to determine a Senator to fill the term to which Ventrutx had been elected (ending with the 45th Cosa).
